Louise Falank (also known as Faran), a female composer active in 19th-century Paris, has been the subject of a growing reappraisal in recent years. She was a renowned pianist who served as a professor at the Paris Conservatory, and as a composer, she was praised by Robert Schumann. Volume 5 of the Complete Piano Works (6-volume set) released by the GRANDPIANO label features the world premiere recording of the rare *Fugue Collection*, which was never published during her lifetime. It also includes works such as *Three Melodies*, allowing listeners to fully appreciate her elegant musical world. The “Melody in E-flat Major” was included in an 1846 anthology of works by composers inspired by Beethoven, and the “Impromptu in B minor” was featured in the *Musical Album of Autographs* alongside 62 renowned musicians, including Berlioz, Gounod, Liszt, among 62 other renowned musicians, in the *Musical Album of Autographs*, a testament to the high regard in which Falanc’s works were held at the time. The performer is the talented Maria Stratigou, who holds a doctorate in Falanck studies and is active in various fields, including presentations at international conferences.
