Celine Frisch, the leader of the ALPHA label, will present the first volume of Bach's own keyboard art. French harpsichordist Céline Frisch, who co-hosts Café Zimmermann, one of the ALPHA label's signature groups from its early days, and whose "Bach Concertos for Various Instruments" series has received great acclaim, has made a splash with her many Bach recordings since the label's early days. After two years of preparation, she has completed a recording of the complete "Six Partitas," which are extremely important in terms of Bach's keyboard music. This collection was published in 1731, a few years after Bach became choir director of St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, as a collection of suites that he had self-published one by one since 1726. As the first volume of the "Clavier Exercises" series, which is the sum total of Bach's keyboard art, it is a well-balanced work that crosses French, Italian, and German styles and covers a wide variety of techniques through six suites.Frisch says that he thoroughly studied Bach's score in the manner he usually teaches, and while clearly expressing the precision of the polyphonic structure, he also added some ornaments that were not in the score in accordance with the style of the time. The performance, which was recorded by Aline Blondio, a master engineer who has been with the label since its inception, is full of charm, and the character of the music seems to emanate from within, in a natural and natural way. The German harpsichord, a Ch. Furter 1738 model, which Frisch had commissioned from the contemporary master craftsman Restelli in search of an instrument closer to the composer after years of working with Bach on French instruments, also contributes to the rich and varied sound of the piece, which brings out the best of the composer's taste.
