Debussy was familiar with the piano from an early age, and as a student he was exposed to works for eight-handed piano and the expression of the piano duo. When composing, he often created piano versions of orchestral works. The Prodigal Son" is one such example. After composing it as a cantata for the Prix de Rome competition, he arranged two pieces for piano duo. Divertissement," composed around the same time, is an original work for four hands and was published in 2002. The two-piano version of "Prelude on a Pastoral Afternoon," a dreamlike work based on a poem by Mallarmé, is one of his best-known works, and its orchestral sound can be heard throughout. In the 20th century, the autograph scores of both the double-bass and orchestral versions were discovered. It has a romantic sound and a stage musical structure. Inspired by a Botticelli painting, "Spring" was composed for two pianos and chorus, but was not accepted by the Paris Academy of Fine Arts at the time and was not officially published until 1904. The orchestral version that followed was not his own arrangement.Lindarach" is the first original work Debussy composed for two pianos, and is a colorful piece that incorporates Spanish-style rhythms and guitar-like chords. The name of the piece is derived from the "Lindalach Courtyard" in the Alhambra Palace, and it is characterized by its exotic sound. The Genova & Dimitrov Piano Duo, which will perform the piece, is a world-renowned piano duo that won first prize at the ARD Munich International Music Competition and other competitions just two years after its formation in 1995, and has since been active worldwide.
