Giovanni Bellucci

The third work in the highly acclaimed Schubert series by Yasuyo Yano, which was specially selected by "Record Geijutsu" (Recorded Arts) and recommended by "Asahi Shinbun" (Asahi Shimbun). This is a work that seems to condense the many facets of Schubert's sonata creation: No. 4, which has a strong dramatic and fantastic flavor; No. 13, which has a sunny character; and No. 17, which is even larger in scale and shows greater depth in its musical ideas. Yano's sound from the fortepiano, modeled on Schubert's own Graf instrument and created by Christopher Clarke with his own ingenuity, is both delicate and dynamic. The sound is the result of a collaboration between two contemporary master craftsmen. The limit of sound volume that a fortepiano can produce is far less than that of a modern piano. Schubert had no choice but to play on the fortepiano during his lifetime, so it is safe to assume that the strong and weak symbols represent the strength of the emotional and psychological impact as well as the physical volume.Yano said, "By identifying the characteristics of each chord, creating a dramatic and convincing forte by recombining the speed and weight of the touch, and exploring the forte at the very edge of the cliff edge of the volume that the fortepiano can produce, it becomes possible to entrust the forte 'f' with an earnest state of mind. Yano's performances of these early and mid-period works also leave a strong impression, sometimes sounding like "Schubert on the verge. The performance of No. 17, in particular, gives us a sense that we are on the threshold of the sonatas of the latter half of his career. Naxos Japan
