This is the complete collection of Khachaturian symphonies by Behrman and the Robert Schumann Philharmonic. Khachaturian received his first composition lessons from Mikhail Gnesin at the age of 21, and composed highly accomplished piano and chamber music pieces. To further his studies, he entered the Moscow Conservatory in 1929 to study composition under Myaskovsky, and completed his Butoh Suite in 1933 and his First Symphony the following year. The symphony was composed as a celebration of Armenia's 15th anniversary of joining the Soviet Union and was recognized as his graduation work from the conservatory. The Butoh Suite is a dramatic work that skillfully utilizes Khachaturian's unique sense of rhythm and orchestration, which was deeply influenced by Armenian culture. Naxos Japan
