Benjamin Apple asks the question, "What is the forbidden fruit? This is the second release on the ALPHA label by Benjamin Apple, a German baritone who is said to be Fischer-Dieskau's last disciple. The album includes folk songs, Romantic, modern, contemporary, and musical numbers based on the forbidden fruit that Adam and Eve ate in the Garden of Eden, and while exploring the diversity of interpretations, it asks what the forbidden fruit is today and whether the serpent is still lurking somewhere. He and longtime partner James Baillieu are in perfect sync. Between songs, Apple's words from "Genesis" are accompanied by short passages, and the album allows the listener to enjoy his beautiful voice and wide range of expression from a variety of angles.
