Description:

A collection of important pieces by the bearers of French music in the UK. The splendid members of this group bring out the full diversity of its appeal! The French style was as influential as the Italian style during the Baroque period, and its popularity accelerated in various ways in the 18th century, but its spread in the world of keyboard music, where there were many influential figures, cannot be overlooked as a major driving force. Charles Dupard, a contemporary of François Couperin, was one of the major contributors to its spread. Not only did he travel to England to introduce the latest French style to the people of London, but he also published a collection of clavecin suites in sheet music in the cosmopolitan city of Amsterdam in 1701. Dedicated to the Countess of Sandwich (grandmother of the 4th Earl of Sandwich, from whom the dish takes its name), the collection was also copied by the great Bach, who spent his life far from London in central German-speaking countries, and his great influence is clearly evident in the "English Suites. These suites, which begin with a movement adapted from an operatic overture instead of a prelude, were soon arranged and published by the same publisher for conseil (ensemble) with violins and recorders, and this album features the ensemble version, with some movements performed by a solo clavusan player. The recorder (with replacement for the oboe) is played by Héloïse Gaillard, leader of the talented Pulcinella group, and the viol is played by Miriam Lignol, who has recently made a splash with her recording of Bach's "Suite for Unaccompanied Cello" on this instrument, The ensemble is composed of members who are all at the forefront of the French music scene. The ensemble is made up of members who are all active at the forefront of French music, such as Miriam Rignol, who is remembered for her recording of the complete score of the piece, and the soloist, Marie Van Rijn, who is a French virtuoso and has recently played an important role in the establishment of the Royal Opera House Orchestra of Versailles. The program includes a variety of ancient instrumental sounds. Naxos Japan
