Description:
The new Handel Masterpieces, long awaited by the renowned singer Piau, stars women with a strong presence. Sandrine Piau. Her beautiful voice, which combines transparency with a unique power that is well suited to the ancient repertoire, has captivated many people in numerous performances of Handel's works by top conductors. However, it has been more than 10 years since she released two albums of Handel's works under her own name on the NAIVE label! This time, under the title of "Enchanting Women," the album features a collection of famous numbers centering on the unique female roles that often appear in Handel's works, such as those who manipulate magic tricks. The cast includes the tragic Lucrezia and Cleopatra in "Julio Cesare (Julius Caesar) of Egypt," and Piau himself says that he chose "powerful women who are willing to kill for a purpose and who will change the image of myself, who has initially attracted attention with lighter roles. As she says, she chose "powerful women who are even willing to kill for a purpose. Les Paradins, led by Jérôme Corréas, who himself started out as an antiquarian singer but has also demonstrated a keen talent as a Baroque opera conductor, will be joined by a 4/3/3/3/3/1 string ensemble, with occasional additions of oboe and trumpet. The deep, sculpted sound of the orchestra supports the soloists beautifully, and the instrumental track also has the vivid shades of sound that only a French-speaking group can produce. The new anthology of Handel's masterpieces, including such hit numbers as "Weep for My Destiny" and "Let Me Weep," features Piau and his group of ancient instruments facing Handel head-on and weaving together a dense interpretation that grows in depth and richness the more one listens to it.
