In this production, director Robert Carsen has reversed the usual arrangement, beginning with "The Clown," which features a commedia dell'arte "play within a play" by a troupe of entertainers, and applying the play within a play concept to "Cavalleria Rusticana" in an innovative way that gives coherence to the two works. The orchestra will be led by the brilliant Lorenzo Viotti, who has been appointed Chief Conductor of the Netherlands National Opera from the 2021/22 season. The ensemble includes a fine lineup of young singers: Roman Prudenko (Tonio/Alfio) with a beautiful baritone voice, Brandon Jovanovic (Canio) as a frenzy, Ilyn Perez (Nedda) as a lotus leaf charmer, Brian Judge (Turiddu) as a young man with an upright heart, Riccardo Mucci as a young man with a strong heart, and Riccardo Muti as a young man who is a great actor. ), Anita Rachivelishvili (Santuzza), a rising star whose singing has been praised by Riccardo Muti, and a chorus of more than 100 singers who fill the entire stage, together with their singing performances, create a stage full of dramatic power and emotion.
