Their formation dates back to 1987. After releasing a few demos, the band signed with the then up-and-coming Nuclear Blast label, and their debut album "Contradictions Collapse" (1991) showed a musicality that could still be categorized as thrash metal, but their next album, "Destroy, Erase, Improve" (1991), was a more thrash metal affair. However, their next album, "Destroy, Erase, Improve" (1995), awakened the band to their full potential. This album, which incorporated influences from jazz guitarists such as Alan Holdsworth, was the true starting point for Meshuggah. With each subsequent album, his style became more and more complex. Meshuggah became one of the most cutting-edge bands in the extreme metal world. Their album "ObZen" released in 2008 is their masterpiece, and no one would disagree that it stands tall in the world of extreme metal. Their third album "Chaosphere" (1998) is now being reissued to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its release. The extremely complex rhythm work and Fredrik Todendahl's otherworldly guitar solos are a must for any musician.It is a real pleasure to see that the remastering has made the essence of this album, known as one of Meshuggah's early masterpieces, clearer and more enjoyable. This is a must-listen roots album not only for their fans, but also for fans of recent metalcore and gents.
