Description:
"Starless," featured on *Red* (original title: *Red*), King Crimson’s final studio album of the 1970s. Based on a melody composed by David Cross, who served as King Crimson’s violinist in the 1970s, and Robert Fripp, a pioneer of progressive rock—which forms part of the song’s main theme—the ambient album *Starless Starlight: The Beauty of Dark Stars* (original title: *Starless Starlight*)—which was released in 2015 based on a melody composed by David Cross, who was active as a violinist for King Crimson in the 1970s, and Robert Fripp, a founder of progressive rock—is being reissued in a UHQCD paper sleeve edition! In April 2014, Robert Fripp, who had previously announced his retirement, announced on his website that he would resume activities as King Crimson. With Mel Collins returning and Jacco Jakzic joining on guitar and vocals in place of Adrian Belew, the band began rehearsals as a seven-piece lineup—featuring Tony Levin on bass and sticks, along with a triple drum setup—and kicked off their activities. One of the two ambient albums released prior to the tour is this album, *Starless Starlight: The Beauty of the Dark Star*. Released in 2015—more than 40 years after David Cross left the band following their 1974 North American tour—this album was released as a special collaborative project under a joint credit with Cross. Since the tracks are structured around the main theme of the classic song “Starless,” the album has turned out to be more accessible than Robert Fripp’s previous soundscape works. It also includes a bilingual translation of an interview with David Cross (conducted in 2015). This is the first domestic release as a UHQCD with a paper sleeve—a must-have for fans. *E-style double paper sleeve *Includes a bilingual translation of an interview with David Cross (conducted in 2015) and Japanese liner notes *UHQCD David Cross (violin) Robert Fripp (guitar)
