The program includes Beethoven's three major sonatas, Chopin's two sonatas, and Liszt's sonata, all of which are suitable for this milestone year. In addition to his favorite Metterner works, Rachmaninov's Sonata No. 2 was performed for the first time. The colorful sound of his favorite 1925 New York Steinway (CD135) provided an overwhelming performance.
