The mazurkas, which are said to be the genre in which Chopin most frankly expressed his feelings, vary widely from small pieces lasting less than one minute to large works exceeding five minutes, but all are wonderful music in which a dense world is condensed in a simple form. Medjieva's playing is based on an orthodox style, and she captivates the listener with her sensitive, elegant, and sometimes intense expression that is close to the composer's heart.
