The band's first album, 1988's "Bummed," produced by Martin Hannett, known for his work with Joy Division and Durutti Column, and 1990's "Pills 'N' Thrills," a chart success that was further house-oriented with the help of Paul Oakenfold, are the best albums of the 80s and 90s, bridging rock, rave, and dance music. Pills 'N' Thrills And Bellyaches" in 1990, which was a chart-topping success, and "Bummed" in 1988 and "Pills 'N' Thrills And Bellyaches" in 1990, which was the band's peak creative achievement. Kinky Afro" reached #1 on Billboard's Alterna Chart and became a hit in the US as well.Step On" is a cover of the '70s hit by South African artist John Kongos, and Happy Mondays' version was voted No. 2 in NME's "Best Tracks of the '90s" project. Lazyitis" borrows the melody from The Beatles' "Ticket To Ride. Stayin' Alive" was covered by the Bee Gees, and "The Boys Are Back In Town" by Thin Lizzy. The core artists of the scene, along with the Stone Roses and Primal Scream, are the most important artists in the world.
