The treasured recordings of Lucia Popp, the eternal Supred Soprano who still shines brightly today! Lucia Popp (1939-1993) was loved by all as "the greatest Susanna of the 20th century. Her charming and innocent singing voice, her lustrous voice, and her dainty appearance made her an internationally renowned singer. Needless to say, when she passed away at the young age of 54, her fans all over the world were in tears of sorrow. Her best-known roles were Susanna in the aforementioned "Marriage of Figaro" and Adele in Kleiber's legendary "Die Fledermaus. Of course, she also excelled in other German operas. As a Lieder singer, her repertoire consisted mainly of romantic works by Mahler, R. Strauss, and others. In these Sunday concerts from 1968 to 1982, we can see the variety of her repertoire, including her favorite Mozart, her native Smetana, some operettas (in which she also sang wonderfully), and Donizetti, whose repertoire she expanded after her voice matured.
