The debut disc of the Bedriche String Quartet, a French quartet with the motto of "broadening the horizons of classical music"! Since its formation in 2002, the Bedrish String Quartet has been attracting a wide range of audiences with a variety of projects in addition to its traditional classical concerts. This CD, the quartet's debut in Japan, features 22 pieces for piano, song, and orchestra from the French modern era, all arranged by the quartet's first violinist, Jacques Gandard.From the familiar melodies of Debussy and Fauré, to the vibrant rhythms of Ravel and Bizet, to the elegant sounds of Satie, Chabrier, and Poulenc, the careful arrangements break new ground with these French masterpieces, while the detailed and inspired performances beautifully reconstruct the delicacy, clarity, and spirituality of the works. In the end, one could be forgiven for thinking that these pieces were written for string quartet.
