DISC1 M1-14 contains material from Leslie West's blue-eyed soul band, The Vagrants, and DISC2 contains live material from Corky Laing's band with Felix Papalardi, Energy. DISC2 contains live recordings of Corky Laing's Energy band with Felix Papalardi (including the original "Mississippi Queen"). In addition, M15-19 on DISC1 contain previously unreleased outtakes from Mountain's first album, "Climbing! session. Many hard-to-find and must-hear recordings for fans! Leslie West was born in 1945 in New York City.In the mid-1960s, he began working with the blue-eyed soul band The Vagrants. There he met bassist Felix Papalardi, who had made a name for himself as a producer for Cream at the time, and released the album "Mountain" as a solo artist in 1969. They formed Mountain and performed at Woodstock. Corky Laing, drummer of Papalardi's former band, Energy, joined the band, and in 1970, they released their debut album, "Climbing! The band released two more albums, but disbanded. West, Bruce & Laing formed West, Bruce & Laing with Jack Bruce and released "Why Dontcha" in 1972, but disbanded.In 1975, he released "The Great Fatsby" as a solo artist, and since the 1988s, he has consistently released albums, and Mountain has intermittently reunited and worked as a guest on albums by Ozzy Osbourne and others. In 1999, his right leg was amputated due to diabetes, but he made a miraculous comeback with "Unusual Suspects," which featured Slash and others. However, in 2008, he suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in Florida and died at the age of 75.
