This 2-CD set couples the studio bests and live bests of America's most popular Southern Rock band, the Atlanta Rhythm Section! The new release features a few previously unreleased songs, as well as a brand new title and cover! The album contains mainly songs from the band's heyday in the 70's, as well as some rare tracks that have never been officially released (including 3 songs from the band's first live performance in Japan in 1980). The album offers everything from wild Southern rock to sophisticated mellow soft rock. The Atlanta Rhythm Section was originally formed in Georgia in 1971 by members of the Classic Four and Candyman. The band began while working as studio musicians at "Studio One" in Doraville, near Atlanta. The band debuted with "Atlanta Rhythm Section" in 1972, with Buddy Booey, a friend from the Classic Four days, as producer.The band continued to release albums consistently, and their sixth album "A Rock and Roll Alternative" in 1976 reached No. 11 in the U.S., followed by "Champagne Jam" in 1978, which was also a hit, reaching No. 7 in the U.S. and gaining solid popularity. The band headlined rock festivals for 100,000 people, including Nebworth, and became one of the best live bands in American rock in both name and reality. However, in the 1980s, the band's activities began to decline due to disputes with record companies and frequent member changes, and they have only released a few albums since then, including "Eufaula" in 1999. However, even today, the band continues to perform more than 100 shows a year while overcoming the repeated deaths of its members.
