The soundtrack disc of Steve McQueen's "The Great Weekend," starring Steve McQueen, has been remastered and will be released as a 2-CD set. Music by John Williams! For this release, the original 3-track elements have been remixed, remastered, and approved by the composer. Disc 1 contains the score presentation and additional music, including a medley of Stephen Foster tack piano pieces and a piece provided by the CBS archives at UCLA that only survives as a mono recording, while Disc 2 contains a unique performance and editing of the original soundtrack with unique performances and editing. Williams' concert suite for "A Weekend of Splendor," which he recorded for the 1994 Boston Pops album Music for Stage and Screen, rounds out the film. The composer reconsiders and further develops here the original 1969 recording featuring the film's original narrator, Burgess Meredith, and it is available in a limited edition of 2,000 copies worldwide.
