ROAD TO THE SUN" is not only the first release from MODERN RECORDINGS, but also the first album to feature "contemporary composer: Pat Metheny".At the heart of ROAD TO THE SUN are two suites that Metheny composed for classical guitar. With these two pieces, Metheny once again transcends genre boundaries and demonstrates the possibilities of the guitar as an instrument, while creating a sound that is recognizable to anyone who hears it. Included in the first half of the album is "For Paths Of Light," a solo-guitar suite in four movements. For this piece, Metheny chose Grammy Award-winning American classical guitarist Jason Vieaux, described by NPR as "the most precise and soulful classical guitarist of his generation," to collaborate with him. He has been described by NPR as "the most precise and soulful classical guitarist of his generation. I remember many of his improvised solos off the top of my head, but I was always fascinated by his song structures.
