A collection of operetta arias by the inimitable tenor Fritz Wunderlich! Fritz Wunderlich was born in 1930 in Kuusel, Rhineland-Palatinate, to a cellist father and violinist mother. Due to a difficult life following the Nazi invasion and the death of his father, opportunities for formal musical study were hard to come by, and at the age of 20 he was finally able to study horn and voice at the University of Freiburg. By that time, his beautiful voice was already well known, and at the age of 24, he was given the opportunity to sing the leading role of Tamino in "The Magic Flute" at a university performance. The following year, the year he graduated from the university, he had already signed a contract with the Stuttgart State Opera, and since then his talent was so outstanding that he was contracted by the Bavarian State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, and appeared at many music festivals including the Salzburg Music Festival.However, on September 17, 1966, he fell down the stairs of a friend's villa, ending his short life at the age of only 35. He was at the height of his career as a singer, on the eve of his debut with the Metropolitan Opera, and people all over the world mourned his passing, and his fame has not faded even 50 years after his death. This album contains recordings of his appearances on the popular Bavarian Radio program "Munich Sundays" from 1959 to 1965, as well as arias from several studio operettas.
