Description:

Allard demonstrates the function and charm of the modern harpsichord to the fullest! Elas-Casado's second Falha album! Following "The Three-Cornered Hat" and "Love is a Magician" (Bronze Prize winner at the 58th Record Academy Awards in 2020/KKC 6127;HMM902271), the ever-flying Elas-Casado takes on the challenge of performing Falla's "Master Pedro's Puppet Show" with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. The coupling harpsichord concerto and Stravinsky's "Pulcinella" are also fascinating. Noteworthy is that Banjaman Allard plays the harpsichord concerto, also on a Playell "Grand Model". The piece was written for the harpsichord queen Landowska with a modern harpsichord in mind, but the instrument itself is considered aesthetically undesirable today and seems to have been eliminated. After searching for the instrument, Arall found one donated to the Falla Foundation by Landowska's last disciple, Puyana, and recorded the piece using it. The absence of noise and the loudness of the sound are now so rare that it sometimes reminds us of even an organ.Allard's fingerwork in the first movement by Bilancico and the Scarlatti-esque third movement, as well as the Spanish sentiment of the second movement, are ideal. This is a definitive recording. In "The Puppet Show of Master Pedro," which is said to be the first example of the use of the harpsichord in a modern orchestra, Allard also participated on the same instrument, adding a touch of splendor to the performance. At first glance, the Russian Stravinsky may seem foreign, but "Pulcinella" is based on 18th century Italian music, including Pergolesi's, and also has a connection with Diaghilev's original request to Faria for an arrangement for the Russian Ballet, which was turned down. Elas-Cassadó reproduces it beautifully with Latin sensibility and brilliance. King International
