Pygmalion, led by the genius Pichon, recreates the funeral of Louis XIV Pygmalion, led by the genius Pichon, recreates musical works of the 17th and 18th centuries from an original point of view based on the history and documents of the time, and delights us with its light performance. On the morning of September 1, 1715, Louis XIV, also known as the "Sun King" and ruler of France for 72 years, died. People sang, danced, drank, lit celebratory fires, and even spat and insulted the coffin when they saw it, but the court still held a solemn funeral service, as was customary, to pay tribute to the dead and to prepare for the coming change of kings. The body of Louis XIV was embalmed and placed in the first coffin, followed by a second coffin made of oak and a magnificent altar. After the evening of September 9, he was brought to Saint-Denis in a carriage with eight horses for burial. Afterwards, special services and masses were organized.This reconstruction of a series of funerals by Pygmalion, led by Pichon, was staged in the Royal Chapel, with simple staging and lighting, in the 300th anniversary of Louis XIV's death. This is a rare film that allows the viewer to appreciate the charm of music at the height of the royal period, to listen to the light and unforced performance of Pygmalion led by Pichon, and to be captivated by the beauty of the chapel.
