Giovanni Antonini and the Basel Chamber Orchestra have been slowly working on the "Beethoven: The Complete Symphonies" in chronological order of composition, and now Symphony No. 9 is finally here, the final installment! This miraculous release is timed to coincide with his visit to Japan as a guest with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. Antonini, a recorder player and founder of the Italian old music orchestra "Il Giardino armonico," has been playing mainly Baroque music with innovative performances, but since the beginning of the 2000s, he has also focused on his activities as a conductor, expanding his repertoire to post-Baroque and classical music as well.
