As of 2017, the popularity of French opera in Japan seems to be a step behind that of Italian and German operas. How many of the arias included in Douvielle's new album will we be able to hear in their entirety? The only reason I feel this way is because Douvier's singing is so wonderful. The songs that we hear most often are Durieb's "Where is the Young Indian Girl? (It takes superb technique to sing this out loud), but all the other arias are sung in a soft, pleasant voice that naturally draws the listener's ear to them. Also, many of the songs are oriental. They all have a mysterious atmosphere and embrace a magical beauty. Backing them up is the hot duo Les Siecle, led by François-Xavier Roth. The period instruments are also surprisingly colorful, as if they were responding to the singing. The piano accompaniment is occasionally interspersed with songs, and here the piano is played by Alexandre Tharaud. The sigh-inducingly beautiful seven-color sound can be enjoyed. The co-stars Crevasser and DeVos also give a good taste of the music. Warner Music Japan
