Description:
Louise Alder Chandos' first appearance! The Russian Connection sung by Louise Alder, one of Britain's hottest sopranos who won the Best Young Singer Award at the International Opera Awards 2017. The program was devised by Joseph Middleton, a master disc player who has accompanied many great singers, including Carolyn Sampson, Sarah Connolly, and Mary Bevan, in their song albums. Not just a "collection of Russian songs," but with the theme of "connection to Russia," the program begins with Russian songs written by Rachmaninoff, then moves through works written in various languages, including Sibelius (Swedish), Grieg (German), Tchaikovsky (French), and Metonel (German), and finally The program is very ambitious, returning to Britten's songs on Pushkin's poems (in Russian).
