Supraphon, a famous label representing the former Czechoslovakia and the current Czech Republic, releases a compilation series "ENCYKLOPEDIE CS. BIG BEATU" once a year, which is selected and compiled from the works and songs of the bands that colored the Czech music scene from the 60s to the 80s. This is a 2CD compilation of music from BLUE EFFECT (MODRY EFEKT), OLYMPIC, SYNKOPY 61, and other leading Czech bands and artists. Although there are different definitions and perceptions of "soft rock" depending on the person or region, it is generally defined as the music of the 60s/70s that is in the flow of psychedelic/SSW/pop rock with melodious melodies, rich harmonies, soft and dreamy arrangements, and AOR that developed in later years, This album is also in line with this image. This album also contains many songs in line with this image, but as the word "ballad" is used in the label's introduction, it is characterized by the fact that it also features slow-tempo songs such as rock ballads with a hard touch that are not confined to the general concept of "soft rock". The music is not limited to the general concept of "soft rock," as the word "ballad" is used.The album includes Blue Effect's memorable debut single "Slunecny Hrob" from 1969, which was also a hit, "Slzy Tvy Mamy" from 1973, which has a bluesy melancholy like OLYMPIC in the 70's, and "Poselstvi Detem" from SYNKOPY 61's "FORMULE I" in 1975, which has a big orchestral arrangement. SYNKOPY 61's "Poselstvi Detem" from their '75 album "FORMULE I", VLADIMIR MISIK & ETC, formed by the guitarist of BLUE EFFECT with members of the Czech rock/jazz scene, and the late PROGRES 2 also participated on this symph x FUTURUM, a band with a hard and dynamic musicality that can be described as sympho and new wave, and GEORGE & BEATOVENS (G & B), a pop band featuring the vocalist of the early FLAMENGO, as well as a very reluctant blues-hard rock band from the Czech music scene. KATAPULT, a blues-hard sounding band, ABRAXAS, who is said to have led the Czech New Wave scene in the 80's, and CITRON/KERN, a melodious and orthodox HR/HM band, were selected from various genres. Rather than softness,It is a work that emphasizes the sorrow and crying that was unique to Eastern European rock at that time, which included resistance to politics and censorship while following the trends of the Western scene! The master is newly remastered by Oldrich Slezak.
