This 2-disc set comprehensively covers the works of the great Belgian violinist and composer Eugène Ysaÿe (1858–1931), ranging from his early works to the masterpieces of his mature period. Disc 1 is organized chronologically by composition date, while Disc 2 presents the four Poèmes in numerical order, tracing the evolution of Ysaÿe’s style. While his two early mazurkas show a strong influence from his teachers, Henri Vouhin and Henryk Wieniawski, the rest of the program reveals the mature Ysaÿe. Demetrius Polizoides and Yanna Polizoides are a duo whose parents are both musicians from Greece. They have performed in numerous concerts since their youth and have appeared at many music festivals.
