40 years after his death, the miracle of Bill Evans, a jazz pianist who is still loved today, has been unearthed! After 45 years, "I Will Say Goodbye" and "You Must Believe in Spring", masterpieces representing his later years, and completely unreleased live recordings by the same trio (never circulated before, even on pirate recordings) are now available. This is the same trio that recorded "I Will Say Goodbye" and "You Must Believe in Spring" with Eddie Gomez (b) and Elliott Zigmund (ds) at the legendary club in Vancouver in 1975, the same club where Bill Evans, the poet of jazz piano, played in his later years. The live recording from June 20, 1975 at Oil Can Harry's is finally released after 45 years. The live sound is full of realism and the atmosphere of that time. It was recorded for Gary Barclay, a radio host at CHQM in Canada at the time, and broadcast on his popular jazz program CHQM.The tapes had been forgotten for nearly half a century, but the tapes of Evans' performance at Oil Can Harry's that Barclay brought home - by engineer Lace Hamel, a pioneer in live recording, are now available in surprisingly After two owners, the tapes are finally getting their moment in the sun!
