Two years after his shocking edition of the complete work, Schaller gives a revised premiere of Bruckner's 9th! His love of Bruckner's music and his mastery of the work made him a topic of conversation with his unique persuasiveness, but he continued to refine the score and published it in its full glory with Ries&Erler. A live concert from July 2018 will be presented by its unveiling. Various drafts of Symphony No. 9 remain, but the biggest question was how to conclude the work, which only Bruckner himself could have known. Strongly influenced by Wagner, Bruckner's music is more boldly harmonic and full of constant modulations than one hears, and since it was written at the end of the 19th century, it has a sense of being well ahead of its time. The composer has also respectfully avoided the increasingly thin sketches that would have been more common in the earlier movements, leading to a coda that almost seems to lead to the divine. This is a must-listen for all Bruckner fans. King International
