A collection of beautiful piano pieces by 24 composers, including many newly commissioned works. Lara Downs, an American pianist known as a cultural activist, gathers diverse "voices" and appeals for world peace through music in her thought-provoking concept albums, which have attracted much attention. She is also known as a producer, curator, and cultural activist who has spoken out against racism in the U.S. In her first release on the PENTATONE label, "Love at Last," Lara Downs brings together a diverse range of "voices" to create a thought-provoking concept album that calls for world peace through music. Love at Last" was inspired by the poem "Sachki, Sachki" by the Odessa-born Jewish writer Shaul Chernikhovsky (1875-1943). Its concept transcends generations, continents, cultures, races, and nationalities, and is a piano composition of love, brotherhood, and compassion for mankind. 24 pieces, including many world premiere recordings of newly commissioned works, are a diverse collection of "voices" calling for world peace. The works are truly diverse, ranging from Bach to contemporary composers. The music is very beautiful, including works by Sean Hickey, a composer and producer for the PENTATONE label.Also included is an "audio commentary" on the last track, in which Downs talks about the album in his own voice.
