The first album by American funeral doom/death metal band EVOKEN, released in 1998, has been reissued. The album is highly acclaimed as a milestone in this genre, with a sense of nihilism from the album's opening intro, and is composed of both traditional sorrowful funeral doom and a sense of darkness that looks into the abyss like Esoteric.The guitars include leads and solos, which, while retaining their roughness, fuse with the keyboards and drums to create a transparent and massive soundscape. The clean guitar melodies fit naturally into both melancholy and intimidating songs, while the keyboards reinforce the atmosphere of deep emptiness. As a whole, cold, subdued riffs and spacey synths combine to build an overwhelming dark world of loneliness and emptiness.While the remastering has cleared up the sound quality, it has not lost any of the album's original gravity and abyssal atmosphere, making it a must-listen for fans of funeral doom.
