Herb Alpard is a leading trumpeter/producer in the music world, leader of The Tijuana Brass, and one of the founders of A&M Records. His new album will be his first release in about a year since his last album "IN THE MOOD". While his recent works have featured his wife, Lani Hall, on vocals, "Come Fly With Me" is a mix of his beloved standard numbers and new songs. The album includes seven new songs he wrote last year, including "Night Ride," inspired by a Tito Puente-style rhythm that Herb says he loves, "Cheeky," which came out of a jam with his band, and "Walkin' Tall," which has a punchy reggae beat. composed last year in 2014. On the other hand, among the standard numbers that he features are a groovy bossa nova arrangement of Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me" and standard jazz numbers such as "Take The A Train," as well as an arrangement of George Harrison's "Something" released on A&M, of which he was the founder.
