Verdi (1813-1901)
Description:
Live at Arena di Verona in 2019! Zeffirelli's famous production "Il Trovatore", the much talked about husband and wife collaboration of Netrebko and Avasov, is an open-air opera festival that takes place every summer for 10 weeks at the Arena di Verona, the site of an outdoor arena built in ancient Roman times. The Arena, located in the center of the city, has a capacity of 16,000 people. As the largest open-air opera theater in the world, this stage has been graced by stars of the opera world, including Maria Callas. This production is Verdi's mid-period masterpiece "Il Trovatore," which was performed in July 2019. The production made a big splash because it features Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eivazov as a married couple, and it is a famous production by Franco Zeffirelli, Italy's most celebrated director. Zeffirelli is also known as the director of the film "Romeo and Juliet," starring Olivia Hussey, and the production is being staged in Verona, where "Romeo and Juliet" was also set. But Zeffirelli passed away on June 15, 2019, just before the festival opened; he was 96. Netrebko sings Leonora. Her dramatic voice, which can sing even the most technical phrases with ease and sound supremely beautiful, is ideal. And Manrico, sung by Aivazov, with her rich voice and outstanding presence on stage. Zeffirelli's stage direction on an outstanding scale enveloped the magnificent open-air theater in Verona with great emotion. The excellent acoustics of the Arena di Verona, which allows the audience to enjoy the singers' voices without microphones, is also a must for this open-air theater. You can enjoy a feast of melody and voice, the essence of Italian opera, with the best lineup. ≪The setting of "Il Trovatore" is 15th century Spain. Manrico, a minstrel (Trovatore), is in love with Leonora, a courtesan. However, Count Luna also loves Leonora, and when the Count finds out, he becomes furious, captures Mannlico, and executes him. However, Manrico turns out to be his estranged brother. Azucena, who had harbored a grudge against the Countess, takes her revenge, and the Count ends in fear and disappointment. King International
