Description:

The Munich Philharmonic's self-recorded Bruckner live performance at St. Florian's Abbey in Linz, Germany, with Valery Gergiev, who assumed the position of Chief Conductor in September 2015, and the Munich Philharmonic, is a combination of profound power, sparkling elegance, and beauty. The music of this new duo is highly acclaimed for the concentration and tension with which they brought out the best in strings, winds, and percussion to respond to Gergiev's fiery and skilled conducting, which is deeply passionate and dense. In "Symphonies Nos. 1 & 3," which was recorded and released the previous year, "a groundbreaking interpretation that breaks free from Bruckner's traditional mysticism and religiosity and combines simple beauty and drive. The recording is also highly acclaimed in terms of performance and recording, with "a perfect balance of church reverberation and individual instruments, and no muddiness at all. The recording was handled by Stephan Reh, a highly acclaimed engineer for labels such as CPO and BIS. Mastering was done by Christoph Stickel, an engineer who has been involved with Keith Jarrett's various works, with new mastering under the supervision of ECM.Symphony No. 9" was unfinished until the third movement, which Bruckner dedicated to his beloved God (Dem lieben Gott) in the score as a dedication. Although unfinished, this piece is like the music of the universe, an overwhelming world. Gergiev projects it as pious, reflecting the organ and choral sounds of St. Florian's Church, where Bruckner himself served as organist, and the rich nature of Austria. This grand sounding musical picture scroll is performed on a rich scale while maintaining a sense of tension. Warner Music Japan
