San Francisco-born, N.Y.-based pianist Art Hrahara's latest recording is out now on Posi-Tone. Although he has performed extensively with many well-known musicians, it has been 10 years since his last album, "Edge of This Earth," was released in 2000. The new album, which has been polished and raised to a higher level in the meantime, is a cool yet passionate performance with a neat piano touch and tight rhythm work with a sense of speed. The various landscapes behind the melodies are rich in shadows and show different expressions from different angles, but they do not lose their beauty, and are poetically and dramatically depicted in a fresh and forward-looking original that is a superb piano trio work.
