Cecile Chaminade, who was active in France in the latter half of the 19th century, was a female composer who lived at the same time as Debussy, left many works, and led a tumultuous life. She was so popular during her lifetime that there was even a fan club in the U.S. called the "Chaminade Club," but after World War I, her music, with its Parisian salon atmosphere and fin-de-siècle frivolity, was gradually forgotten. Here, talented mezzo-soprano Katharina Kammerlohr and pianist Johann Blanchard, who is well versed in Chaminade's works, have selected and recorded a wide range of Chaminade's song works.
