Henning Schmiedt's Piano Solo Arrangements of 14 Unpublished Works by Theodorakis This album commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mikis Theodorakis (July 29, 1925 - September 2, 2021), considered the greatest Greek musician of the 20th century. Fourteen previously unpublished works by Theodorakis are arranged and performed as piano solos by Henning Schmiedt, a pianist from the former East Germany who plays many genres of music (some of which also feature other instruments). The beautiful melody, long forgotten, is brought back to life. Schmiedt had played this arrangement with Theodorakis himself in 2009, and the final form of the arrangement was created based on his advice. Most of the originals were composed in the early 1940s, providing an interesting glimpse into the formative years of one of the most important composers of the 20th century.INTUITION
