Kantorov, who performed at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, releases an album combining Brahms and Schubert on SACD hybrid disc. Alexandre Kantorov, who performed at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, will close the Brahms series with a performance of the Piano Sonatas No. 1 and Schubert. Alexandre Kantorov, born in 1997, inherited his father's musical talent, and at the age of 16, he performed in Nantes and Warsaw. At the age of 16, he performed Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with Sinfonia Varsovia at La Folle Journée in Nantes and Warsaw. He then became the first Frenchman to win the 16th International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019. In the finals, he performed Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 2, a difficult piece that requires a higher level of technique than the famous No. 1, which he also performed successfully in the competition. Brahms' Piano Sonata No. 1 was composed after his Piano Sonata No. 2, Op. 2 and Scherzo, Op. 4, although it is called "Op. 1.This large-scale work, born of the ambition and passion of the young Brahms, is considered difficult not only in terms of technique but also in terms of expression, but Kantorov's profound emotional expression makes for an overwhelming performance.
