The Minnesota Orchestra, led by Osmo Vänskä, who also recorded the complete Sibelius symphonies to great acclaim, has finally recorded Mahler's Symphony No. 5! However, labor-management conflicts at the orchestra intensified due to deteriorating management, and in October 2012, the management decided to lock out the orchestra. The entire 2012/2013 season was cancelled, and the very survival of the company was in jeopardy. Vänskä returned to the position of chief conductor in January 2014 after the labor-management agreement was reached, and since then, the Minnesota Orchestra's performances have become even denser and more cohesive. A highly anticipated Mahler recording. The recording of Mahler's music is highly anticipated. Vänskä, who has made many recordings for the BIS label, has reached the highest level of performance in this recording.
