Ron Sexsmith is a great Canadian songwriter who has won multiple Juno Awards. This is his 17th album of rich, baroque sounding pop songs. Ron Sexsmith has released a new album, The Vivian Line. This is Ron's seventeenth album and features twelve new songs written and performed by himself. The Vivian Line is a country road just outside of Stratford, Ontario, where we live. Whenever we have to leave town, we hop on The Vivian Line and take off onto the highway. When I first moved here, I wondered about the name and was intrigued. It seems as if it represents an escape from our old life in Toronto into a new phase. On the other hand, it's also like a gateway to when you have to go back to your old life. Recorded in Nashville with Brad Jones (producer and power pop singer/songwriter; Josh Rouse, Cotton Mather, Chuck Prophet, Matthew Sweet, Imperial Drag, Jill Sobule, Brad played bass on three of my previous records: Other Songs, Whereabouts, and Blue Boy. The Vivian Line" has a very extravagant, almost baroque pop sound, and is a distant relative of "Whereabouts.Most of the songs are inspired by the stage of life I'm in and trying to figure it all out," Ron says.
