Bob Mould (Husker Do, Sugar) completes his first new album in a year and a half. Blue Hearts, an album of raging yin against the positive yang of his last album, Sunshine Rock, is now available. Blue Hearts is perhaps the most straightforwardly confrontational work in Bob Mould's 40-year career. It contains 14 songs that he says are the catchiest group of protest songs he has ever written all at once. The album was produced by Mould himself and recorded with longtime collaborator Beau Sorenson at Chicago's famed Electrical Audio. Backing vocals again feature drummer Jon Wurster and bassist Jason Narducy. Rolling Stone magazine noted that while Mould's previous album, "Sunshine Rock," was an expression of "raging happiness," "Blue Hearts" was a "seething rage. Blue Hearts is a bitter, seething work of anger. It is truly an album of raging yin to the positive yang of its predecessor.Born in New York, Bob Mould is a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter known for his work with Husker Du (80's) and Sugar (90's). In 2012, he released his tenth album, "Silver Age," his first for Merge Records, to critical acclaim, and his eleventh album, "Beauty & Ruin," debuted at #38 on the U.S. charts in 2014. The label continued to release "Patch the Sky" (2016) and "Sunshine Rock" (2019).
