Joey DeFrancesco, a modern-day Hammond organ master, overcomes the Corona pandemic with his first new album in two years! The American jazz scene is beginning to move on while overcoming the Corona disaster. Joey DeFrancesco will restart with the title "More Music" to express his joy of finally being able to develop his performance activities in front of an audience after spending all his time composing and practicing since 2020. DeFrancesco was greatly influenced by Sonny Rollins (ts), John Coltrane (ts), and Charles Lloyd (ts), and has always wanted to play the organ like their tenors. On his last album, "In the Key of the Universe" (2019), with tenor legend Pharaoh Sanders (ts), he learned to play tenor saxophone in a serious way, and for the first time his soulful tone is heard on M-2, M-5, and M-8. Inspired by Miles Davis (tp), with whom he played as a teenager, he began to play the trumpet and matured on M-4 and M-6.Newcomer Lucas Brown is a multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, organ, and keyboards. On M-4, DeFrancesco also plays piano with a delicate touch. The bluesy organ trio sound is further enhanced on M-3, M-7, and the title track, M-9, while M-10 and M-11 are organ/keyboard battle tunes. DeFrancesco also foresees "an unprecedented explosive movement in the post-Corona music scene that will bring together musicians eager to perform and listeners who have rediscovered the beauty of music.
