British contemporary composer Graham Fitkin! First recordings for string quartet and soloist! Graham Fitkin (Graham Fitkin) is a British minimalist and post-minimalist composer. The Sacconi String Quartet, one of the most dynamic and versatile string quartets in the UK, will perform this collection of works for string quartet + soloist by this remarkable contemporary composer, who has also made a splash with his striking Uniqlo TV commercial. Fitkin has been composer-in-residence with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Chamber Orchestra. He has commissioned works from the Orchestre de Halle, BBC Philharmonic, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, RSNO, Athens Camerata, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and BBC Concert Orchestra. In chamber music, he has also collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma, the Sacconi Quartet, and Kathryn Stott, among others, and is the recipient of three BASCA Composer Awards, the International Grand Prix Dance Music Prize 2000, and the Royal Philharmonic Society Composer Award 2015. This album couples four first recordings with newly arranged works.Each piece has a string quartet at its core, but the addition of soloists on organ, percussion, piano, saxophone, and harp to each piece allows for two different perspectives and two different approaches to the material, with each protagonist creating a new world under the influence of the other.
