Maria Schneider's second album has been remastered and re-released on ArtistShare. Maria Schneider is one of the most exciting musicians of our time, and this second album already shows glimpses of the magic of her sound, which she has developed in her own unique way from the orchestrations she learned directly from Gil Evans and which are a perfect blend of jazz idioms and contemporary sensibilities. With the exception of "Spartacus - Theme of Love" and "Giant Steps," all of the songs are her original compositions, but her ability to chew up music once and then reassemble it, even from someone else's pen, is remarkable.
