Cornetist/composer Ron Myles passed away in 2022 at the age of 58. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for his work with Joshua Redman, and was also an accomplished educator, having served as a university professor. He made his debut as a leader at Village Vanguard in September 2021. Ron Miles, who played at this prestigious club for the first time after the Corona disaster, was already planning to record his next album at the time. The sudden death came at a time when Ron, who had based his activities in his hometown of Denver, was rapidly gaining attention, and Don Woz, president of Blue Note at the time, said, "Ron was a talented artist. His kind-hearted and compassionate personality was reflected in every exquisite note he played. We are heartbroken to lose him so soon, but his spirit will live on forever through the music he left us." He offered his condolences.This is a recording of Ron's September 21, 2011 show at the Old Main Chapel venue in Boulder, Colorado, all takes of which are being released for the first time. The band was a trio with Bill Frisell and Brian Braid, who recorded Ron's album "Quiver" the day after this show. Produced by Hans Wendl, Ron's longtime manager and producer, the album also includes liner notes from artists who were close to Ron during his lifetime, including Bill Frisell, Brian Braid, Jason Moran, and Don Was.
