Description:
Mihaëla Oprea, a Romanian-born female violinist active in Denmark, is back with her second volume! A collection of great violin sonatas from Denmark and her native Romania! This is the second album by the duo of Mihaëla Oprea, a Romanian-born violinist who released "Tango Geraci, Hora Staccato" (DACOCD831), and Danish pianist Jacob Arsgård Behr. Continuing from the previous album, this program explores the great violin works of Denmark and their native Romania, and includes violin sonatas by Carl Nielsen (Nielsen) and Jorge Enescu. Mihaëla Oprea is a violinist born in Vlasov, Romania. She studied at the Cui Music School and the Bucharest Conservatory and joined the South Jylland Symphony Orchestra (Danish Philharmonic Orchestra) in 1998, and from 2006 to 2009 she studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus with Kim Schulen, where she received a soloist diploma. She is the leader of the second violin section of the South Jylland Symphony Orchestra.Pianist Jacob Alsgaard Behr (1984-) studied with Ane Ullan at the Academy in Aarhus and made his soloist debut in November 2012, performing in the closing concert. Carl Nielsen was the second violinist of the Royal Danish Orchestra in his 20s and 30s, and was known as a talented violinist. The Violin Sonata No. 1 in A major was written in the traditional style the year after the premiere of his Symphony No. 1. The Violin Sonata No. 2 was composed in the summer of 1912 and premiered in September on the violin of Axel Goese, who also composed Tango Gélacy. It is one of the works in Nielsen's "journey in search of tonality". Jorge Enescu's "Violin Sonata No. 3" is from 1926. Dans le caractere populaire roumain" (in Romanian folk style), it was composed without quotations from actual folk songs, using material that evokes "genuine Romanian" style. The music is dark, melancholic, and deeply passionate. Tokyo M-Plus
