Emmanuel Bertrand, the muse of the French cello world, releases his latest recording of Brahms! Emmanuel Bertrand is a cellist who is taking France by storm with his full and passionate tone. Her recent performance of Bach's Suite for Unaccompanied Cello (HMM 902293) has left a strong impression, and her next new release is Brahms, performed with her husband, the famous French pianist Pascal Amoyal. The two sonatas are full of dignity, passionate tone, and superb ensemble playing. The arrangements of songs for cello and piano are also full of poetic sentiment. The performance of "Lullabies" is also very different from the lullabies that Japanese people think of, and it is full of flavor and draws the audience in. Bertrand won the first prize at the 1996 Japan Chamber Music Competition in Tokyo and the first prize in the soloist category at the Victoires de la Musique Classique in 2001, and has quickly become a recognized presence in Europe. Amoyal was born in France in 1971. He studied with Cihra and Bellman.
