One of the pinnacles of Bach's counterpoint technique, the "Technique des Fugues" is said to have been written for keyboard instruments, but there is no clear instrumental designation, and it remains a theme that has been left to us today to determine how to harmonize this elaborate structure with the sound. The straight tone of the accordion and the two stringed instruments are a perfect match. The score of this beautiful work, which has been described as "music to look at," rises up straight and dazzling like light from various angles. Although the violin is mainly in charge of the upper voices, the viol in charge of the lower voices, and the accordion in charge of the middle voices, the content is enjoyable from an audio standpoint as well, with unexpected sounds being created by the unison of the two instruments in some pieces. Vincent Lerme is the first French accordionist to earn a doctorate.Marianne Murelle is a viol player who also plays for Les Arts Florissants and others, both orchestral and solo.
