This is the solo debut album by Bulgarian cellist Michael Petrov, who has released two albums on Rubicon as a member of the piano trio Trio Isimshiz, which includes Chiaroscuro Quartet violinist Pablo Hermann Benedi. Selected as an ECHO Rising Star for the 2015/16 season, he has performed at major European concert halls including the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Budapest Palace of Arts, and the Cologne Philharmonie, Michael Petrov, who has toured China and Argentina, presents a fascinating program that spans nearly a century, from Franck to Dutilleux.The cello and piano version of Franck's masterpiece "Violin Sonata," composed as a wedding present for Ysaye; Dutilleux's "Three Strophes," written as a birthday gift for Paul Sacher; and Poulenc's cello sonata dedicated to Pierre Fournier, will be performed in an intimate duo setting with Turkish-British pianist Erdem Misirlioglu, another member of Trio Ysimshiz The trio will perform the "Three Strophes" by Dutilleux, written as a birthday gift for Pierre Fournier, and the Poulenc cello sonata dedicated to Pierre Fournier in an intimate duo setting.
